All three of them were born in Manhattan. DeNiro was the only one fully raised there. Keys may have been partly raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Stallone was raised in Maryland. - Robert DeNiro grew up in Little Italy. His father (Robert DeNiro Sr. - a painter of Italian/Irish heritage) was born in Syracuse, NY. His mother (Virginia Admiral - expressionist painter/sculpter) was born in Oregon (but grew up in Danville, Illinois & Berkely, California). His parents met in college in Massachusetts and moved to Greenwich Village in 1942, a year before Robert was born. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_De_Niro,_Sr. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Admiral - Sylvester Stallone was born and grew up in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan in 1946. His mother (an astrologist) is of Jewish background and was born in Washington D.C. in 1921. This might have been part of the reason why his family moved to the D.C. area when he was a child. I'm not sure if his father (Frank Stallone Sr.) was born in New York, D.C. or somewhere else. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Stallone - Alicia Keys was born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, in Manhattan, in 1981. Her mother Teresa Augello Cook was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1950. I'm not sure where her father was born. Some things say he was Jamaican. Other things say he was African-American. All I know is that he was a drama teacher, so like DeNiro's and Stallone's parents, they were involved in the arts. That'd probably give him a good chance of not being native too. I put it in here because it's relevant to New York City. I've seen slightly off topic (yet still in the area) type questions get answered on here before. Plus, wouldn't it mean their parents had to travel to get to NYC? lol There's a few reasons I find it interesting. There's a lot of people out there who say Manhattan's ''changed'' a lot like in the past 15-20 years. I definitely agree with the new businesses, but people say the people have too. Some people (even on Yahoo) have told me that neighborhoods like the Lower East Side or Little Italy were ''plethoras'' of culture. Too many people I've come across though automatically assume two things. They act as if only foreigners could define that. And they act as if lower/mid Manhattan, prior to the 90's, had lots of prewar ancestors or working class immigrants dominated here. That's not mostly true though. None of DeNiro, Keys or Stallone were born wealthy. They may have come from educated middle to upper middle class backgrounds, but they weren't Donald Trumps. In the same sense how ''newbies'' dominate the cultural scene of Manhattan today can really be said about them too. Also, I don't know why (because there's actually plenty of places that are more Italian/Irish - ex. Scranton, New England), but some I've come across also come to this conclusion that if you're of Italian, Irish or Jewish descent, that you automatically have roots to this city. That's not true with all three of these people, who are all at least two of these backgrounds though. DeNiro's father was Italian-Irish, Stallone's father is Italian, mother Jewish and Keys mother is Italian-Irish.... Read More »
